HOW I MADE AN ENTERTAINMENT CENTER
Here, using biscuits, I've started attaching the face frames on the upper middle section, I used my biscuit joiner to cut the slots for the biscuits.
This is the upper shelf section that is located in the main section. This shelf will attach above the TV.
All the shelves need edge banding to hide the plywood edges, here is my home made third hand that I use to hold the roll of edge banding while I adjust the work piece.
Here is a pic of how I created the rectangular slots in all the backs for either the vents or areas where equipment wires can be run out of the entertainment center to be plugged in. I hot glued some 1/2" plywood to the 1/4" back, and then using my router with a 1/4" straight bit with a bearing on the top and a collar I just follow the 1/2" plywood with the bearing - perfect everytime.
Here are the vents and the wire slot on the main section. Notice the 2 smaller slots on the shelf near the back, just in case you need to attach wires between components on different levels.
Here are a couple of pics of the middle sections combined, the one on the right has the doors on the upper section just sitting in the opening, still need to install the flipper door system.
Here it is, all put together....all I need to do now is alot of sanding, put on the finish and then put in the glass, the vents, and attach the hardware.
Here it is the HVLP Spray Gun Kit I got at Rockler that I'm using to spray on the Ebony laquer stain and clear coat Varnish.
Here a few pics of some of the Entertainment Center pieces after I turned them black by hand rubbing on 1 coat of the Ebony laquer stain and then spraying on 2 coats of a mixture of Ebony laquer and Sanding Sealer. Next up...2 coats of clear Varnish.
And here are four pictures of it all finished and set-up
