HOW I MADE AN ENTERTAINMENT CENTER

Here's the lower middle section complete with doors. My new "rail & stile" router bit set sure came in handy for making all the doors.

This is one of the shelf sections that is located in the main section. The TV will sit on top of this section.

This section required rabbets and dadoes be cut in all horizonal pieces. You can see the rabbet here in the left hand corner.

Here is my set-up at the table saw for completing the rabbets and dadoes. I set-up my dado blade, sacrificial fence and feather boards clamped to the fence to keep the boards flat on the table top.

More dadoes here... Sorry my clamp in sort of hiding them, but if you look close you can see the dadoes I cut in the middle of each horizonal piece. Look closely and you can see a doubler dado for the middle shelf.

Finally, I get started on the main section. This thing is huge!! Here I'm using my 90 degree jigs from Rockler to ensure the corners are square.

Now for the corner block which will double as a spacer for the flipper door guide.

A piece this size can be hard to get square if your limited on space like I am. Here are a couple of pics on how I solved this problem. First I started out with a straight edge clamped to my workbench and clamped the right side of the piece down to the workbench as well. In the bottom left corner you can just see where I've clamp a piece of scrap to help keep the piece stable and ready to rack into square.

Here I'm using a bar clamp to draw the piece into square with one end of the clamp on the piece, and the other hanging over the edge of my workbench. I slowly tighten the clamp, as I tighten the clamp, the piece draws into square. Once I get it square, I just secure the piece so it won't move while I work on the face frames.
